Memorial Day’s a Comin!

That’s right, the first official weekend of the Summer!  (yeah, I know it’s technically spring, but this is the first big cookout party weekend of the year)

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!  I can’t wait.  It looks like most of my regular party guests are going out of town that weekend, but don’t think that’s going to stop me from cooking up some awesome ‘que!  I have big plans for a feast of smokey goodness.

We’re going to get us a pork shoulder, some ribs, maybe a little cajun shrimp boil going on….banana pudding, potato salad, COLD BEER and more.  It’s going to be a chowdown in my town.  And I can’t wait.  I can already taste that sweet bbq meat coming off the smoker after about 12 hours of slow and low cooking.

I’m hoping against hope that I can have my new cornhole boards ready to play on, and maybe even get the swimming pool opened up by then too.  It won’t be suitable to swim in just yet, but it’ll be a start.

Anyhow, the goal is to put the meat on the smoker Friday, and get out there partying on Saturday.  (I have to work sundays and mondays holidays included) so we do ours a little earlier than everyone else.  Either way, it works out fantastically and everyone that comes has a great time.

I’ll be busy downloading the latest Jimmy Buffet and Kenny Chesney party tunes, so in the meantime, let me know what YOUR big plans are and we’ll compare notes.
